I have been playing bass many years and I have my own equipment and transportation. I am drama free, dependable, prompt and customer courteous.
I am not a hired gun nor do I expect to be paid for rehearsals, (unless your are feeling generous), but I do expect them to lead to paying gigs. I am married and I want to play, network and have some fun. No freebie gigs sorry. $100 minimum. I am a finger style player who digs more melodic bass lines, which stay in the groove while being a supportive element in a group which enhances the vibe and structure of the music without stepping on everyone else’s part. I can slap to a degree but I am not a Victor Wooten, there is only one Victor. I do not want to be a solo artist inside the band.
In the truest sense, a musician is more like a outside sales representative for themselves. You have to be organized, driven and goal oriented and constantly networks with other musicians to secure performances which actually pay money. You establish your own metrics and judge your own successes and failures.
I have been fortunate to have played Bass Guitar as a Freelance bassist for road work, local events and studio recordings. I have been playing bass for over 50 years and I reside in Pleasant View, Tn. I have shared the stage with notables such as, Texas guitarist and Producer, Anson Funderburgh - Former Fabulous Thunderbirds front man, harp player and Producer, Kim Wilson - Blues Brother Guitarist, Song Writer and Producer, Steve Cropper - Singer extraordinaire and emerging artist, backup singer for Bob Seger and Little Feet, Shawn Murphy - Blues master Bobby Messano, Americana artist D.L. Duncan. Guitar master for The Stan Lassiter Group, Stan Lassiter - Former Allman Brothers Guitar Player, Jack Pearson - Former Guitar player for Tina Turner, Rod Stewart and Joe Cocker and is currently the lead Guitarist for Brain Howe of Bad Company, Paul Warren and others as well. As a former bassist for The Andy T - Nick Nixon Band, the group was nominated for two awards for Best Traditional Album and Best Band of the Year for The Blues Foundation awards in Memphis 2016 in May as well as in Chicago later that year. I did a short run of gigs with Big Monty, which extremely fun. Others include, Michael Vance, Terrance Downing, Some current groups I am involved with are, Jon Gorman's Bluetrain, Dave Duncan, Dale Hunter's Preacherman & Stan Group, Crooked Eye Tommy and Miss Zeke’s Juke Joint Band. All of which are based out of Nashville. As always, I am on the hunt for opportunities.
