Long Island gave birth to an abundance of musical talent, notably Billy Joel, and the multi-platinum band The Stray Cats. With the desire to showcase the music that has been a part of mainstream radio for audiences of all ages around the world, now comes Long Island's new atomic rock band: The Smokin Rockets!

Founding member, Johnny Lemmon (guitar/vocals) has performed internationally in the pop music scene for more than 30 years with The Merseybeat, a long-standing tribute band to The Beatles, which has graced the stage for audiences worldwide. As an entertainer, guitar player, and a singer of 50's & 60's Rock, Pop and Surf, he’s a tone junkie that loves eclectic music others won’t attempt to play.

Johnny’s been blessed to perform in many television and radio shows, arena concerts, and famous stages worldwide. Some venue highlights include, The Cavern Club in Liverpool, WCBS-FM featuring radio personality Cousin Brucie, and WWOR-TV (UPN), just to name a few. Along with playing famous stages worldwide with his own music projects, Johnny has also accompanied many legendary music icons.

The Smokin Rockets will take you on a rock journey of the very best guitar bands of the atomic age of the 50’s and 60’s. They recapture all of the tonal energy long replaced by computers and digital technology. Inspired by the likes of The Ventures, Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent, and many others. Johnny says, “We blend the very best of early guitar driven rock with contemporary tones.”
