HEY!
The name's Jonathan Ahn. I am a young, motivated and enthusiastic piano player currently living in NYC.
Just a brief history on my musical background.
I started music at a very young age of 5 years on the violin. My mother was a huge classical-music enthusiast and so it is the backbone of my musical education. I began my musical training on the violin with world-renown violinist Yukako Tarumi. I studied in many different music schools, traveled the world such as Portugal & Spain and even got to play in Carnegie Hall & Lincoln Center when I was just a toddler.
When I turned 13 I started my path on the drumset while continuing my musical training on the violin. It even led me to audition for McNally Smith College of Music located in St. Paul, MN after graduating high school. I attended for 2 years before moving back to NY to pursue a path in piano. Even though I may have started to play piano at a very late age (21 years old, I am now 24 years old now), it has not stopped me from becoming the BEST that I can be.
I would enjoy getting to know you through music by attending concerts together, meeting up to jam, or for more serious musicians, starting on a project. Composition is definitely one of my life long goals/dreams and would love to have some great musicians around me when the time is right.
CURRENTLY,
I am attending Hunter CUNY as a Music-Performance Major in Piano. Although it is mostly known to produce classical musicians, we have very strong jazz performance classes led by Ryan Keberle, whom I had the pleasure to study with for more than a year.
I have a very strong foundation in Music Theory & Analysis and learn at an extremely fast rate. Whatever you need me to do, I will do.
My top priority right now is to learn and be the BEST that I can be. Don't you?
