ABOUT

Hey all. Tough to write an ad like this. For one, not a huge fan of the "jamband" moniker, but I guess it gets the point across. I mean, I dig Umphrey's McGee, Phish and moe., but I also love Wilco, Radiohead, The Decemberists, Dispatch and Tribe Called Quest (among many others). I guess it's kind of the way of saying I love being able to improvise and not necessarily be confined by a verse-chorus-verse sort of thing. I want to play something with a little soul, but don't want to pigeonhole any particular genre. I grew up playing in punk and ska bands. Then the Dead. And so on and so forth. If you're not a "jamband", cool. If you're playing stuff you love and it has heart, hit me up.

So yeah. Me. I'm a classically trained singer. I've done everything from jazz standards to Les Miserables. I've done a lot of rock music. Without trying to sound like I'm totally full of myself, I've played, off and on, in some very successful local acts for quite some time. I've never not been in a band since I was in high school. I play with a couple acts now, but nothing that seems to be going anywhere or ticking the right boxes in my head. I've got decent connections in the industry and am involved in producing one of the big summer festivals in the area. I write lots of music. I don't suck. I've got a great drummer that could join me for the right project.

I play the guitar. Not saying I'm the next Jake Cinninger or anything, but I can hold it down on lead or compliment another player well. I've got super nice gear. I appreciate tone. I can "shred" a little bit, but it's not necessarily my thing. Chops are decent. I'm just as happy comping as long as I can rock a few good leads a show. Kind of prefer the "stew" to the "jam". Spontaneous improvisational songwriting and such. The groove. I'm happier making an audience dance then flexing my finging for the 3 musicians in the crowd.

I'm not even sure what specifically I'm looking for. I work a pretty buttoned down corporate job during the week. I do some travel for work, though not a ton anymore. I've got a family. I'm not looking to jump out on the road and go play rock star full time anymore. I am happy to gig 3-4 times a month and definitely need to rehearse that much. I can travel a bit for rehearsals, but would prefer not to (again, I'm speaking in ideals). I'm cool with having some beers and such, though I'm not into anything "habit forming".

Got a band that needs/wants another member? Want to hang out and jam? I need something new. Something to feel artistically passionate about. Something to write a tune down and be all like, "this is going to be awesome". Where's that at. I didn't even use a question mark there, despite it being grammatically appropriate. Thanks so much for checking this out.
