Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard.

Forming: Epic 60s/70s "Funky Country" Classic Rock Jam Band

We are 2 (male & female) singers/songwriters/guitarists looking for:

1. Drummer - the big fat tasteful grooves and fills like John Bonham meets Levon Helm
2. Piano/B-3/Wurly - subtle but powerful colors, chords and fills like Jon Lord meets Garth Hudson
3. Bass - the root/fifth glue that energizes everything together like John Entwistle meets Rick Danko
4. Lead Guitar - memorable, melodic and bluesy riffs and solos like David Gilmour meets Neil Young

We have a great practice space / recording studio in Washington, CT, fully equipped with almost everything you could think of; multiple drum sets, percussion, keyboards, guitar/bass amps, a 16 channel PA. The only catch is it's a little out of the way, so you need to be close, are willing to make the drive.

We really only want play big weekend shows; festivals, breweries w/ big stages, schools/colleges, etc...not too excited about setting up in the corner of a tiny bar at 10pm on a Tuesday night.

Some songs we'd like to try:
You Ain't Going Nowhere - Bob Dylan
Have You Ever Seen The Rain - CCR
In My Hour Of Darkness - Gram Parsons
Changes - David Bowie
Two More Bottles of Wine - Emmylou Harris
Friend Of The Devil - Grateful Dead
Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
Dead Flowers - Rolling Stones
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Everybody Knows This is Nowhere - Neil Young
Blue Sky - Allman Brothers
Caravan - Van Morrison
Layla - Derek and The Dominoes
Tangerine - Led Zeppelin
Come Together - The Beatles
Hush - Deep Purple
Tiny Dancer - Elton John
Hotel California - The Eagles
Baba O'Riley (Teenage Wasteland) - The Who

"Funky Country" is how Ronnie Hawkins described The Band's debut album Music From Big Pink....folky but not folk, bluesy but not the blues, big but not heavy, a little country and a little funky, lots of half time grooves, organic vocal harmonies, creative and collaborative, simple and effective. We want to add the epic elements of the best classic rock songs to that funky country style: big guitar solos and drum fills, big catchy sing-along choruses, etc....What if Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris fronted a backing band of guys from Zep, Floyd and The Who? Maybe that's us.

Looking for: Easy going, positive, reliable, creative and collaborative musicians with stable lifestyles and predictable schedules. Get together once a week for the joy of playing music, great music, good people, and a couple beers. Anything else that might happen would be gravy. Originals are a possibility in the future, but not the priority right now. If you're interested send some samples of you playing - video or audio, quality doesn't matter, tell us about your experience, your typical weekly schedule, etc...
