I like and can play in many different styles. I'm especially into melodic and symphonic metal, but have also performed in motown, funk, classic rock, pop, and a few other kinds of bands. I dabble in electronic/industrial/trip-hop as well. Lately, I've been getting more into bluegrass, southern rock, and western(?) country ala Johnny Cash.
I like to play around with weird voicing, phrasing and time signatures, as long as it doesn't ruin the groove, and I enjoy challenging pieces. I can pick up anything you throw at me fairly quickly, and I have fair-to-good vocal abilities for 90's style rock & metal purposes, with range and tone not too unlike Hetfield, Vedder, Weiland, etc. My voice projects like crazy. PA is barely needed in smaller venues. I can also do a decent metal cookie-monster voicing, as well as a passable falsetto (just not in the same line).
I have experience running live sounds and in acoustical engineering as well, and apparently have unusually sensitive hearing. I pick up on high frequencies and harmonics that others do not.
I'm big on professionalism and showmanship. That means I make a point of being punctual and prepared, looking the part, and interacting with venue and studio personnel in a businesslike way, and I engage the audience with stage antics and a little dialog when appropriate. I haven't usually performed as a front man, but I can carry the show for a while, should the need arise.
