Fingerstyle acoustic bass player. I do own an electric, and I could be tempted into plugging it in, for the right band. I do not drink or do drugs. I live in the west end of Lakewood.
I have a great appreciation for what the bass guitar is. A utility instrument, it serves a deep and crucial function, fusing the rhythm and melody into a single thing, song. All bass players embrace this functional, utility role. But most of them neglect the bass guitars awesome power and potential, the deep and subtle melodies it has within it, the emotional rythms and textures. I try to do a song justice, first and foremost. Beyond that, I seek basslines that are more fun than the same old root five on beats 1 and 3, etc. Sometimes I succeed in my search, sometimes I do not.
