***I am looking to start a small jazz group to play gigs with me at local spots. I'd like to eventually gig about once a week. I would like to have a pianist, upright bassist, and maybe a guitarist. My husband will be on drums. I love singing standards, especially in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn. I am willing to throw some newer styles into the mix as well. My instrumentalists need to be very skilled, experienced, and preferably have the ability to improvise.
I graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in May 2011. My major was commercial voice with an emphasis in Music Business.
My voice is very clear and bright :)
I have experience singing just about every genre, but I sound best in country and jazz.
At Belmont, I was in an ensemble called Jazzmin (see the video I posted). We had 12 singers (6 guys, 6 girls) and a four-piece rhythm section including piano, bass, guitar, and drums. I was a first soprano. I love singing in groups like that, and would love to get more experience with jazz music.
I grew up singing in plays at church and plays at school. I have sung in several different choirs since fifth grade. I was in show choir in high school. I've led worship at church before.
I learned how to make Nashville Numbers Charts at Belmont, and I am quite good at it.

I did this recording for a project in one of my classes. The goal was to nail down the "hip hop" sound and sing as if I were doing actual session work and recording a real demo. I did all of the background vocals as well.
