Born in the Saint Louis metro area, on the IL side, I was raised in a musical family. I had a lot of musical influence growing up. My grandmother always played the piano and taught me how. The first artist I remember listening to was the one and only, Elvis Presley.
As I grew up I was involved in choir, band, and musicals in middle school and high school. Participating in these things only continued to make me love music more and more. When I was 15 I picked up playing drums and guitar. By the time I was 16 I started my first band.
It wasn't until I graduated high school and got into music in college that my musical background began to expand. I was drumming in a well known Mid-Western band known as Harvey. In that band I gained studio experience as well as touring experience. In my free time I would still write my own songs with my acoustic guitar and play them whenever there was an open spot at one of our shows. After 5 years Harvey broke up.
I continued writing music and started various other projects between 2009 and present day. I currently am not part of a group, but as you can see I am still working hard on my music. While my music has an edgy pop/rock feel, you can tell that I have a background in jazz guitar from my chord progressions. A lot of my inspiration for my music is things I experience through out life and the people I meet. Hopefully my music can touch the people who listen to it. I am Justin Michael and this is me.
