Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar.

I am a versatile drummer and a working professional.

I have been playing music since I was six years old, when I first took piano lessons. Besides piano, I played saxophone, sang vocals, and later picked up guitar. I fell in love with drums while in college and have been laying down beats since 1996, where I studied under the best at Indiana University School of Music. While still in college, I played in my first band, Kid Kilowat. A unique trio – two guitars and drums – Kid Kilowat rocked all originals in the style of ‘90s and ‘00s indie greats like White Stripes, Modest Mouse, and Sleater-Kinney. We played house parties, outdoor music festivals and school sponsored gigs.

I later moved to Washington, DC and developed a more sophisticated drumming style. I formed Sutures, a hard rocking outfit that co-wrote songs inspired by our old favorites like Fugazi, Soundgarden, Primus, and Built to Spill. We played rock clubs all over DC, including a live radio show at the University of Maryland.

My drumming technique was broadened even further when I backed up a singer-songwriter for the first time in Charlottesville, VA. Rather than co-writing songs with a band, this time I supported pre-written material for a real talent. The music was a departure from my angsty past, and echoed the songwriting of Bright Eyes, Elvis Costello, Jenny Lewis, and Ani DiFranco. Soon after meeting, we played regular gigs in Charlottesville.

My drum work has been described as intuitive and creative. I am willing to play any style of music, whether it is rock, country, bluegrass, indie, or something completely radical and new. I have all of my own gear (Yamaha Tour Custom kit, Yamaha hardware, Zildjian cymbals), so let’s set a time to jam and see if there is a fit!
