Clyde R. Adams, II picked drums sticks up at age six and hasn’t put them down since. And, there is no doubt that his great uncle; blues pioneer “Blind” Lemon Jefferson influenced his talent. He attended HSPVA, the renowned performing and visual arts High School in Houston, Texas. Upon his graduation he moved to Washington DC in order to pursue his studies at Howard University. Adams is a very sought after drummer well beyond the Washington DC and Houston scenes. “He is known for his modern, forceful yet subtle, and always swinging approach to any style of music” (Downbeat magazine, 1999). Adams is also a talented instructor, whose skills were honed under the tutelage of jazz great Grady Tate. He has performed with:
Winton Marsalis, Flowetry, Bobby Lyle, Frank Foster, Benny Golson, Keter Betts, Jimmie Heath, Charlie Young, David Craig, Antonio Parker, Stan Killian, Marshall Keys and The Amadis Dunkel Octet
Adams is available for, but not limited to studio work, touring, teaching and band collaborations.
