ABOUT

So here's the ad I put up on and other sites:

Pro Drummer Available for working (or near working if the situation is right) blues/rock/hard rock style band. I’ve got pro gear and trans. Looking for a hard rock kind of situation in the vein of Motley Crue, Godsmack, The Cult, Guns N Roses, Black Crowes, ACDC, Black Label Society, Nickelback, Monster Magnet, Rush, Zep, Sabbath, Jet, Buckcherry, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Alice In Chains, Velvet Revolver, Soundgarden, UPO, Skynyrd, Corrosion Of Conformity, STP, and Metallica to name just a few. Mainly, I really love these bands, and I just want to get back to some kickass rock and roll. When rock musicians were considered dangerous and metal didn’t mean only screaming and growling over blast beats (that used to be considered DEATH METAL folks!) I have a huge drum kit but I want to play music that will only call for a 4 or 5-piece Bonham (Zep) or Sorum (The Cult, GNR, Velvet Revolver) style kit. I would also be open to a “classic metal” such as Maiden, and Priest, and if it’s not noticed here, then I am not above marketing it to Europe, Japan, etc. where they will actually appreciate that style of music. If I’m doing what I enjoy, I refuse to kiss the MTV execs asses and change everything to appease the ignorant pop soaked minds of the teeny bopper public.

Basically, I’m sick of the metal scene (I did extensive shows all over and out of the state as a singer for two different Pantera style metal bands over the last few years) as all the damn metal bands (with the exception of a scant few) are all sounding the same. I miss the heyday of hard rock-I mean, who doesn’t know who Tommy Lee is? Or Axl Rose? (love him or hate him, you still know who the hell he is!) Ozzy? Slash? Bonham? Layne Staley? The list could go on. These People made a name for themselves by being wild on and off stage. Let’s bring these ideals back to inject some life into a very anemic hard rock scene!

So if you’re a “hardcore”, “post hardcore”, “emo”, “scream core”, or whatever the hell else you call that screaming crap now, don’t bother calling. None of the influences or styles I listed have anything to do with that stuff. I’m not trying to be a dick, but I am just sick of these 17 year old guys who wear their girlfriend’s pants and cry in a mirror all day trying to get me to play for their boo hoo bands. I’m a pretty tolerant guy, and I pretty much never get mad and I get along with almost everyone, but please read my ad and style preferences before you email me for fu*k’s sake! I just know what I like, and I’m not willing to just settle. By the way, I also have a badass bass player who can come on board if need be (I’ll be jamming with him regardless as he’s an old friend also). Bottom line-hard work and dedication is a good thing, but I don’t want to cross that fine line to obsession. I love playing music, and I want to continue to have fun with it, not feel like I’m going to work whenever it’s time to practice.

Check out my site at ./keeranimal for pix of my kit and old studio (I still have all the gear plus some, but I had to move it to storage temporarily while I search for a new place). I’ve been playing drums since I was three, and I used to be a drum department manager at Sam Ash, so I definitely know my way around a kit. So if you’re interested, message me and we’ll talk.
