The Addictions couldn’t be further from the whining, griping, and moaning of contemporary alternative rockers. They bring back what was so appealing about rock in the first place — hell-raising fun. The music is the driving passion behind the electrifying team of Jason Richard and Beth Richard; who share and trade lead vocals. The band is harnessed into a hard rock package with the pounding drums of Derek Hatley and the raunchy bass of David Warren. Adding Christopher Volloy’s aggressive guitar attack with Jason Richard’s power hooks gives, the Addictions, a twin onslaught as they alternate lead and rhythm seamlessly. The Addictions are all depth and crunch.
The Addictions self-titled debut album on Electric Factory Records fulfills their promise of merciless rock n’ roll; with songs that feel like a dangerous act of rebellion. The album was recorded at Wire Recording Studio where Stuart Sullivan engineered, mixed and co-produced along with Jason Richard. Sullivan has worked with such artists as Sublime, the Butthole Surfers, and The Meat Puppets. His extensive experience gives The Addictions a 10 song CD that captures their hard-core attitude and worships at the altar of sex, drugs, and rock & roll.
Formally known as Austin’s pop-rock favorites, Quatropaw, The Addictions found themselves growing out of the genre and quickly made their way back to their rock roots. Writing hard-driving songs brought out an “amps-on 11” attitude all of their own. Since their rebirth, the momentum has been non-stop. Through vigorous touring and playing music festivals and biker rallies throughout the Southwest, in addition to their strong internet presence, press, and radio airplay, The Addictions have built a formidable following throughout the country. National radio support includes KLBJ - Austin, KROC - LA, KTEG - Albuquerque, WEQX - Albany, KISS - San Antonio, and WQXA - Harrisburg; to name a few.
“This music is addicting.” laughs Jason Richard. “We’re doing what we set out to do.” adds drummer Derek Hatley. “The music isn’t about political statements it’s just high energy rock n’ roll,” says bassist David Warren. “You’ve got to mean it to play like this,” says Richard. Beth adds, “You can hear it in our music—one crashing sound that is The Addictions.” For more info, visit: .theaddictions.
