I am a bass player whose focus is primarily on supporting the overall sound of the band and being locked with a drummer whose timing is on point. When playing covers, clear and reasonable likeness of the original version is important to me. Dynamics are big for me too. I'm not interested in "the bass player show." Not even a little bit. I'm a support guy. I enjoy playing in bands that have awesome Lead Singers, or Lead Instrumentalists whom I can provide solid foundation-support for. That's "Home" for me. Being a former Studio & Live sound- console-knob-guy, I am always conscious of the overall sound and dynamics of the band. So I tend to suggests we play it again "like we're a band" rather than a group of competing individuals in a jam-off. Being conscious of the mix helps us sound as good as a recording, live.
