ABOUT

I'm looking to join a professional, committed band or starting one to gig in the DMV (Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia) area.

I have lots of experience having sung with some of the top bands in the DMV. My speciality is R&B & funk from 70s-2000s, but I have experience in other genres such as Broadway musicals, jazz, etc.

Recently I opened up the 2nd Annual Jazz in the Country, August 28, 2021, in King George, VA, with Jeffrey Greenberg (piano), Marcus Hampton (drums), and Don Lacorte (bass). We put a jazz spin on some popular R&B hits. Marcus Johnson, renowned jazz pianist, was the headliner along with Chelsey Greene and the Greene Project. The festival website is https://jazzinthecountry.com.

I'm also a principal singer-actor in the musical "Queen of the People's Hearts," about Diana, Princess of Wales, written and produced by Angela Knight and Randal Dewey. The world premier was September 25, 2021, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, Manassas, VA. I'm featured in PlayBill, the monthly US magazine for theatergoers. The musical's website is https://www.facebook.com/DianaMusicalProductions.

On September 18, 2021, I performed at the KORUS Festival, Tysons Corner, VA. Angela Knight, who sings with the Washington National Opera, and I performed "Paparazzi," one of the musical's songs.

Check out my samples above. More are on my website: https://kimblack.com.
