Hey, I am Kevin, a 22yr old from Paris coming to New York to study at Columbia University. I am also a jazz pianist, with a good amateur level, and I would like to take advantage of my stay here to play and soak myself in music as much as possible. Back in France, with my band, we mostly played older, rootsy jazz (swing & bebop), but I have some experience of modal jazz, and I am open to discover more recent styles. I will have a fair amount of time to dedicate to music so rehearsing at least twice a week will not be to much of a strain for me. Constantly varying, but in the last few months, I mostly listened to Art Tatum, Erroll Garner, Jaki Byard, Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy, Roland Kirk, John Coltrane... with also lots of classical music thrown in.
