ABOUT

A little about me … I'm a 54-year old jazz/fusion/rock/etc. drummer, and I've been playing for many, many years, in all sorts of different bands--pop covers, jazz, funk, fusion, blues, classic rock, you name it--and I've done plenty of studio stuff as well. My last band was an all-original band that recorded 4 demo CD's and gigged out all over Cinci. We had quite a few lineups over the course of our 8+ years together--multiple guitars, a horn section, an electric violin player, etc.--and did lots of improv jazz/fusion/funk stuff, but once my wife and I had our first son, we sort of split up and went our own separate ways (just how it goes sometimes). But, that was a while ago, and I'm ready to find something interesting and get back into it—either a band that’s already formed (preferred), or perhaps starting something from the ground up. I’m not that interested in pursuing any project that’s doing strictly cover band material; as the ad implies, I’m seeking something a bit “less traveled” that emphasizes originality, creativity, but that has roots in funk, fusion, rock, jazz, etc.

I still practice pretty much every day—rudiments, various styles, time signatures, etc.—and I consider my style now to be mostly influenced by jazz/fusion/big band type players (along the lines of Dave Weckl, Chick Corea, Spyro Gyra, Weather Report, Dennis Chambers, JoJo Mayer, Billy Cobham, Buddy Rich, etc., since those tend to really technically challenge me the most). I'm definitely not into drugs, and have a wife and family and full-time job that keep me occupied for the most part—so, not looking to tour the country, but would love to play out occasionally (or more than occasionally perhaps).

Age isn’t a HUGE issue, but if I’m being honest, I probably would like to play with others relatively close to my own age—30’s is fine, or even a mature 20-something, but I’m not too sure I’d have a lot in common with a group of teenagers (or they with me for that matter).

Give me a call/text if you're interested in talking about it further. 513-310-6935. I live in Loveland, about 10 mins. from the 275/Rt. 28 exit. I have a full, finished basement that would be good for practicing, and since I have just one set for the time being, I’d rather practice at my house if that’s possible. I’m open to buying another set down the line, but that will depend on how things work out.
