ABOUT

Leo Guerra is a charismatic Brazilian percussionist, who has been playing with traditional jazz, blues, Brazilian jazz and bossa bands/artists in Brazil and the US. He was a percussionist and composer in the renowned blues band Mississippi Devils, with whom he recorded an album in Brazil.

Leo is currently the percussionist and co-founder at The Smoky Caipirinhas, a piano/percussion duo with pianist/singer Alex Frederick. TSC brings reinterpretations of Bossa Nova Classics and Jazz Standards with a vaudeville flair, using percussion elements such as the washboard, spoons, cajon, Brazilian tamborim, blended with seamless female vocals and unique piano playing style.

Competent, creative, committed and easy-going. Clear, friendly communication and quick responses. Queens-based, but able to commute.

I’m excited to work with creative artists as a side musician, but will definitely consider joining a potential project or band.
Available for studio recording and live shows (including one-time gigs). Often available for last minute gigs.
