I have a lyrical voice with excellent relative pitch. I can sing a wide variety of songs, and love a good vocal challenge. I've included three original songs. My friend Judd Knauss wrote the music for "Place of My Youth" and "Among Thieves" (I composed the lyrics and melody and sing lead and backup vocals). "Green of Your Face" is wholly mine recorded one evening at my friend Eric Johnson's house - I want to re-record lead vocals on this one. My voice is stronger now than it is in these pieces (I haven't had enough studio time to feel comfortable recording), but these give a sense of my tone quality and my ability to phrase a line and write lyrics. I have many other samples and would be happy to sing something impromtu. I love to create new stuff, and feel the need to perform. Influences
As a child I had a steady diet of the Beattles, classic rock, classical, and 70s/80s pop. As a teen, mostly classical, jazz, late 80s/early 90s alternative. As an adult, mostly jazz, blues, black gospel, soul, and regular doses of the music from my youth. I'm originally from the Twin Cities, and love the greats from the 80s/early 90s. In my fantasies, I'm a member of the Dixie Hummingbirds or similar male gospel group.
