I'm 40. I have a career. But I also have cancer. Two kinds. One is incurable.
I have time - many years - but not a lifetime.
I lived for music, largely grunge and jam band stuff, when I was 22 and younger. A chronic connective tissue weakness compromised my aspirations and I had to quit my band in Iowa City.
I'd really love a chance to be a singer.
I'm a 6-6 red/gray bearded beast of a man, 240 lbs, and I think I could maybe be a hell of a stage presence. I have a decent voice - more gravelly these days after cancer treatment, but I think it is a benefit.
There is little to no risk of my cancer compromising my voice at this point. I also have some money and could afford some equipment, I'd like to experiment with multi-tracking my voice and some vocal effects.
Give me a shot, yo. I'm a survivor at minimum, at my best well - I guess I dunno, but I think this could be fun. If there's a chance to take us on tour, I'll quit my job for it. Life is so short, I know this so well.
