Back in the Bay and need to get myself back into several bands.
Very much looking to be lead vox in a Working band, Tribute band and session work with producers.
Aside from money projects I'm always looking for a lead guitarist who is also a singer. The singing part is important since the songs are harmony heavy and I love the sound of male/female harmonies. I've never worked with a female singer but I'd be up for trying it out. Just so long as you are very comfortable with complex vocal parts, using your upper register as well as lower, occasionally singing solo and good at blending. I've had a few great guitarists come in already but I didn't stress the necessity of vocal abilities so I thought I'd expand on that for a sec...k, I'm done.
Also love working with producers, specifically Hip Hop and Afrobeat and always interested in ethnic vibes.
This is the info I entered a few years back, most is still relevant, except I am no longer working with any musicians so starting from scratch again
Currently working with a cellist and a great rhythm section, bass and drums, and I play keys and sing lead vox. I sometimes use a backing track to bring out the trip hop elements in the music and will also want to perform gigs with just me and guitarist (you) from time to time.
I love the atmospheric sound of heavily effected guitar. I'm also partial to wahs and pitch bending. Ideally, I'd love to work with someone who can play both electric and acoustic, and tastefully plays what the song needs. I'm not a diva so I think shredding might stand out a bit, heh. The music is pretty vibey and atmospheric (a little dark too), just think Morcheeba, Peter Gabriel, Zero 7, Air.
I recently booked 7 gigs between August - October and need to get a group back together asap. One of the gigs is at WHISKY A GO GO in LA so that's a big one. Definitely need a guitarist for that one!
Most of the gigs I play are typical gigs for an originals band: about 20 - 60 minutes long
mostly originals with some covers thrown in ( I love playing covers and am thinking about recording a covers album soon so I might want to learn a bunch...and do they my way, of course)
little to no pay (especially for the good venues, wtf?!) I'm looking for an LTR :) not looking for hired guns, I've got friends who can sub if need be.
mostly clubs and some house concerts (I try to stay away from dive bars although sometimes I just dive in)
A few things about me:
- BA in Music from Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in the UK.
- Just won the judges vote for "Best Cover Song" at the Independent Music Awards in 2011 and received and will continue to receive major promotions over the next year.
- Gig coming up at Whisky a Go Go in September. I've also got a lot of upcoming gigs booked including Yoshi's Lounge in SF.
- Won 2011 "Best Female Singer" on Sacramento's Twirl Radio.
- About to release an album in a few months and will be planning a small tour.
- I have a space to practice in Oakland with a PA.
For more information about me and to listen to some of my originals, check out any of these sites: (or just google me. but be gentle)
Please respond with a link to some audio samples. An EPK would be great, a page or website are good too.
Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm a professional musician and love what I do and I'm extremely relaxed and informal. I just wanna do what I do, combine it with someone who does what they do and create something amazing and moving.
ps. would also love to work with a trumpet player. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please let me know.
