With performing experience on stage, in the studio, and on television, Keri Fletcher Eason, Rex Beard, and Paul DeLano of Lip Service bring some exceptional talent to the area that is not to be missed. Their cover performances are always enjoyable and enthusiastic but it is their original music that really sets them apart from the crowd.
The lyrics to their music have been described as “real” and “relatable” as most of their ideas come from their own life experiences—many of which are familiar to their fans; the girlfriend lost to another man, the shattered life and heart as a result of drug use, and of course—the hope for peace in the world.
Many have also likened their rock alternative sound to some very familiar artists,
“[Your song] seems to have a hint of that guitar-style of Edge from U2 in the verses and then of course [the] singing reminded me of Alanis [Morissette],” said Howard Gee of Izabella's Canvas Recording regarding Lip Service original song Can You Feel It?
Obsessed with music from a young age, Lip Service lead vocalist and frontwoman Keri Fletcher Eason dreamed of being a vocalist ever since her first grade school solo in 1985. However, it wasn’t until 1996 at her first local karaoke performance, when spectators made her realize she was “good at this singing thing,” that she finally really decided that she absolutely needed to perform professionally—it was no longer a choice, but a driving force.
Then, in January 2004 it happened! Keri was approached by her two former band-mates, Paul DeLano and Rex Beard, who she knew from their collaboration in Yesterdaze Child back in 2000. She was ecstatic to have the opportunity to perform with them again, as they worked well together and she really missed them. Thus, the original rock and cover band Lip Service was born (after a series of name changes of course). Lip Service's original songs, recorded by Izabella's Canvas Recording in 2005, and other cover demo tracks, recorded by Phantom Studios in July 2004, are available for online listening at their website .LipServiceInc. Rock being in her blood, Keri is thrilled to be performing, recording and writing cover and original material with Lip Service…and it shows in their live performances.
Whether she is singing with the local blues band, T.C. Blues, belting out soulful Aretha Franklin, gripping and meaningful Journey, the rock stylings of Pat Benatar, some angry Alanis, an emotional rendition of What's Up by 4 Non-Blondes, or one of Lip Service’s own powerful original creations, Keri’s obsession with music is passionately expressed in her live performances and is not to be missed.
Rex Beard has been playing guitar and performing ever since he can remember. He has had the opportunity to be in several bands and meet some amazing musicians. His main influences include Jimi Hendrix and U2. He is an amazing talent, not only playing guitar and singing backup vocals but also taking part in the creation of much of the band’s original music and lyrics. Being a quiet and soft-spoken person, it is quite amazing to see him wail on his guitar when he really gets going!
12-string bass player, Paul DeLano is quite a character! He is always quick to throw in a witty quip when the rest of the band is not looking! One of the Northwest's busiest bass players, Paul DeLano can be found on any given night either playing live with one of his four bands, recording in one of several world-class Northwest studios, or writing original music in his home project studio. Sometimes all three. Originally a Heavy Metal player in the ‘80s, he has been involved in some amazing bands and projects such as his current blues band T.C. Blues, Guitar Julie & The Rumblers (Julie Uomini married Andy Strange of the Terraplanes and the couple is now performing with their band The Strangetones all over the Northwest), Mannheimer Park, a southern rock quartet, Twist of Fate, a progressive metal band, and many more! He has also had the opportunity to work with some very prominent Northwest musicians along the way such as Levon Levan, “The Croation Sensation with No Explanation”.
Through the ups and downs of musician life, Lip Service has remained solid for over four years and currently plays to packed houses all over the Northwest. Playing with sincerity and passion and always having fun, they are a Northwest treat not to be missed!
