I have recently relocated to Chicago from the Twin Cities. I am an experienced songwriter, who plays guitar and bass, and have several releases in a variety of formats, and plenty of live experience.
I'm hoping to put together a dark, female-fronted lounge band to play modern smokey torch songs, dirges and laments. A little noisy, a little dangerous. Not afraid to improvise. Touchstones include Marlene Dietrich, Françoise Hardy, Nico, Marianne Faithfull, Eartha Kitt and Grace Jones. I'm looking to play primarily original music, but also want to cherry pick some choice covers for re-interpretation.
Don't want to dictate the exact line-up, but I'd love to hear from any vocalists, guitarists, percussionists, keyboardists, horns or string players who find this idea intriguing. Recording is the short-term goal, but I also want to be ready to start gigging whenever that again becomes feasible.
The music included in my profile is from a few of my past projects, which were admittedly more "mainstream" rock and Americana, but you can hear how I was drifting in this direction for a while.
