Loisel Machín Rodriguez was born in Havana, Cuba. He comes from a family of musicians (His grand-uncle was the famous singer Antonio Machín). After playing with numerous Latin jazz and salsa bands in Cuba (Tirso Duarte, Juana Bacallao, Sur Caribe), he moved to Paris to study jazz double bass in the Bill Evans School and in the 9th Conservatory. There, he discovered the Gypsy Jazz -also called "Jazz Manouche"- of Django Reinhardt.
In Miami since 2011, he started playing with musicians from different countries (France, Italy, Cuba, Colombia) but with one thing in common: love for cuban music and traditional jazz
