ABOUT

My drummer buddy and I have been writing some songs and we are looking for some band mates to share them with. We are looking for a range of instruments including keyboards, bass, guitar and electronics, vocals, hell if you got it we can record it. We have a lovely studio with a killer sound system, and have our keyboards linked via MIDI and some awesome sequencers. Happy to send our latest recordings. The room is also a recording studio and I’m an engineer trying to get some music out this year. We play/record Saturday nights mostly but can be flexible as needed.
I added my email in code below to fool the paywall, and my number follows, feel free to call.

Ahmed Mahmoud (://.bandmix/mahmoud/) has had a long life with music. His father being a violinist in the Egyptian orchestra, music was always in his household. Ahmed studied music in an accelerated program at Academic High School where he sang in a chorus and taught himself the guitar. He later studied guitar with virtuoso Eddy Zak (://.eddyzak/home.html). During his education at William Paterson University, Ahmed received a BS in Biology and minor in Music. This opened the opportunity to play with the rock band Datura (no link available) locally and was his first shot at songwriting.

Later Ahmed sang with Jersey City based band Neuspore (no link available) and found some success with a #1 rating on mp3 for their song “Lifetime”. From there, Ahmed began writing and recording with Nelson Downend (.ambershiftmedia) and with James Cardenas (://exastra./album/ex-astra). At this point, Ahmed began recording various styles of music and various projects which can be found on (s:///drsouluno).

Ahmed moved on to play with many artists including Bamboo Shoots (://./bambooshoots). While playing with the Shoots, Ahmed was signed to Epic Records in MTVu's best band on campus's contest. He recorded with Jerry Harrison (guitarist, keyboardist for the Talking Heads) and Eric Thorngren (engineered for Robert Palmer, Eurythmics and Bob Marley). Through Bamboo Shoots, Ahmed has played Conan O'Brien and alongside such bands as All Time Low and Plain White Tee's. Ahmed has also toured around the country and India. After Recording Armour, the Bamboo Shoots first release on Epic, Ahmed parted ways with the group to record and play with singer/songwriter Leah Martin (://./leahmartin), an amazing artist that hails from Albertville, Alabama. Afterwards Ahmed recorded the single “Strange” for the group the Audiobodies (s://./TheAudioBodies).

Currently Ahmed is recording and producing with various artists. With the band Ex Astra, Ahmed recorded and mixed their current releases. With The Hobonauts (://thehobonauts), a group comprised of Ahmed and singer/songwriter John Bis, Ahmed mixed, recorded and played various instruments on their 4 song EP Sea Monkeys In Space, due to release May 2014. Ahmed is also working with Nelson on various projects, including the scores and soundtracks for various features. Ahmed’s first scoring experience was on a project called Whatever Goes TV (s://.kickstarter/projects/1079595557/completing-our-labor-of-love-whatever-goes-tv-the), which he scored the kickstarter ad with director John Bis. The Dia Method (://thediamethod) was scored with Nelson by Ambershift Media. Nelson and Ahmed also scored “The Other Man”, a film written and directed by Columbia Film student Edwin Ho (release TBD). Nelson and Ahmed went on to score “Fred’s Little Voice” (s://./watch?v=PcCu-7PfJLU), a short film directed by John Bis and shot by Fred Molina, which Ahmed also starred in.

Other credits for Ambershift Media include scoring work for Summer Search (s://.summersearch) a nonprofit youth outreach organization and CityMD (://.citymd).
