ABOUT

I have played in many bands throughout the years, mostly in Los Angeles, CA. and am new to the Nashville music scene. I had taken a 15 year hiatus due to family, educational, and career pursuits outside of music which required most of my time. I am a responsible grown up individual with a high level of integrity and sense of commitment which is evidenced by the fact that I graduated Summa Cum Laude from college, raised three great children, work in a professional career, and serve honorably in the state guard as an information systems technician, Chief Warrant Officer 2.

The hiatus in over; I finally picked up the bass again a few months back and have been practicing heavily. My old drummer from L.A. has moved to Nashville so we have teamed up to form a new project; we have found two guitarists and are now seeking a keyboardist and a lead vocalist(s) with the same level of maturity, integrity, and commitment.

When it comes to bass playing I do not believe bass players should be lead guitarists; they should stay in the pocket with the drummer most of the time. Think team; life is not a solo project. I think less is often more and sometimes just a straight single note beat is all that is required in a song. That said, there are times when bass riffs are very tasty, and more complex bass lines fit the song and work well.

I have a montage of some of my bass playing from back in the day here on BandMix. The recordings were real cheap; most were done live "ghetto blaster" style on an old 4 track cassette machine. In every case the bass and drums were scratch tracks that we kept then bounced to a single track to make room for guitar and vocal overdubs. They may not be state of the art but at least you can get an idea of how Frank and me work together. I plan on replacing this montage once I get some better tracks together but these will have to do for now. Today, my playing is more groove oriented and I am a more accurate player but my style has not really changed that much.
