ABOUT

Howdy,
My name is Mark DeSilva. I currently live in 'lil R.I.
Years ago I used to have a band 'round here called "M.D. and the All Night Vigil." We were a blues/ rock, 3-piece band and played the whole northeast area, at the time. This was 1988-1992. We called our stuff "houserockin' music" and intentionally played the "B" sides of artists..., just to be a bit more adventurous / versatile... and to separate ourselves from the typical "blooze" bands that were out there. We promoted the music first n' foremost, while playing some covers as well as some originals just to keep the ball rolling. No one's gonna thank you for it in the end by playing "the human jukebox." I'm at the age now where originals should be presented... just as much as the others. I personally feel I should've done that a LONG TIME AGO !! But, I also think it's super cool when a jazz or bluegrass band play some Top 40 songs in the style they are representing but by creatively altering it to fit they're agenda. There are bands out there that do that and it can really be enjoyable to hear it played that way. Kudos !
The M.D. and the All Night Vigil band got to share the stage with some heavy notables over the years....rockabilly legend Sleepy LaBeef, blues legend Jimmie Rogers ( still have his business card that he gave me as a momentum ) Sapphire, the Uppity Blues Women and much, much more. Unfortunately, most are gone now ( or the bands are gone ) but the memories are still there, as well as the exchanges that took place from back then.
Those are the styles I play.
That's IS my bag, first and foremost.
I came upon this "Bandmix" site quite by accident. So, with that in mind I say this, any / all interested parties / bands / musicians that are out there who wish to inquire, SEND ME AN EMAIL. It's ( Kamoasepoah ) and go from there. Not into pretentious bullsh*t so that email address has to be broken down like this ( Kamoasepoah at Gee mail dot calm ) Get it ? Try.

Let's
talk.
Let's
connect.
Thank you for your time n' patience on this matter I can't make it any plainer than that.
Sincerely,
Mark.

ALL the major blues stylists Chicago and Texas players, West Coast jump-blues players... much too many to list, ( Wynonie Harris, Joe Houston, T-Bone Walker ) all the Kings, ( Albert, Freddie and B.B.) are SOME of those influences... many of the roots rockers ( Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Little Richard, Carl Perkins... they now call it Americana....excuse me ) some jazz stuff, ( Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, George Benson ) lots of rockabilly, ( see previous) lots of swing and jump blues ( see previous ) When you get right down to it...I appreciate ANY well executed music. It's really all about the groove / delivery.
