Experienced player was given a great opportunity by a former female music student now living in London to help a group of young women grow together in spirit and confidence through performing their art for appreciative audiences. The ultimate goal would be to also train female management and crew to accompany this grrrl band and turn the keys and equipment over to what "becomes". The story behind this endeavor has been so fraught with blind alley madness; months of princess preening and mommy and daddy assurrances, that, in spite of going to the trouble of building a synthesizer so the lead player could channel AC/DC's Angus Young on clarinet--yes, in spiite of that, not one note has played. Now I believe I've found a film maker to document this adventure. So wanna be in a movie? I regret to inform you that you will have to pretend to be a musician at least to the point that you can convince paying customers...Finally, for those of you, who may have imagined me the iconic figure in my profile picture, i can only hope to meet her some day. She is Thao Nguyen, the multi-instrumentalist engine that powers, Thao and The Get Down Stay Down. I reccommend watching them on Austin City Limits. The other photos are other people that I feel have done some good for Grrrl Power. Following Thao, is: Blueswoman, Samantha Fish; Bikini Kills' Kathleen Hanna; a drummer I saw I thought looked cool; Este Haim (making her "bass face"); tribute band, The Iron Maidens; Santana's black magic woman, Cindy Blackman; Russian freedom fighters, Pussy Riot; and London punks, Dream Wife. Just think as members arrive to take part in this project all these great women will disappear to be replaced by new smiling faces. Pehaps bluegrass or country faces. Come on, surprise me. You know you want to.

50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, rock, pop, jazz, dance, fusion--punk/alternative/new wave/laurie anderson/frank zappa/kate bush--not wild about country but it was huge--george jones/buck owens/patsy cline/dolly parton--What matters to me is what YOU like whether hip hop/rap (prefer that to country but it's your band...) Note: By the expressed desire of the Grantor religious music is not a choice for this band.

Members Of Band

Currently there are no memebers except me. I'm really just a place holder. I have envisioned this as all women in the familiar "rock star" format: Drums, Bass, Guitar (!,2,or 3), Keyboards, Vocalist, Turntablist, MC, whatever is called for depending upon who the initial members are who shape the mold for those to come. Ultimately there will be a sound woman and and lighting tech woman. Then you may fire me.

Basically I have everything. If you want to be professional you should own everything you need to cover your area of the stage and back-up. If you have experience you know that a lot of bands handle this different ways. You may also know the results of how different bands do things...
