ABOUT

I'd like to assemble a group similar to Ben Folds Five's arrangement with a piano (me), bass and drums. We'd play cover songs (mix of Ben Folds and a range of other songs), and ideally at some point some originals (I'm a songwriter). I'm looking for low key and casual though. Not a lot of time commitment. Right now I play open mics whenever I get the bug at a few places in Naperville (limited to who has a piano or good keyboard available). I've been doing this solo for several years, and occasionally have people come up to join me. I'd really like to get a group of people together that can work on songs mostly independently, and then come together on weeknights to perform together. I know limited practicing isn't ideal, but at this point I'm looking to do this as a fun outlet and I don't have a lot of personal free time available. So anyone interested needs to be experienced, have good chops, and be good with winging it. A talented enough group of people can pull this off. If it's working well we can look at making it a more serious band, but for now let's just have some fun and rock out.

I'm a free account so if you are interested contact me or email me jmnelso4 at h0t mail

EQUIPMENT

I prefer to play acoustic pianos at a venue, but I do have pianos at home as well as a Yamaha Motif and Amp. Lots of hand drums and misc. instruments as well, but those aren't really needed for what I'm looking to do with this.
