My name is Matt, I'm 22, and I've been playing drums for about ten years. I took some time off from playing to go to school but now I've got the itch to play back and I'm looking for some people to play with, write some original material, and see where it goes. Currently working on getting my chops back after time away, and I can't do it all by tapping on rubber pads in my basement, so I'd love to collaborate, jam out, and have some fun, and hopefully play some shows in the next few months. I'm also learning Ableton Live for some knowledge in basic music production, so maybe that can also be a draw? Otherwise I'm just a pretty cool dude who likes to play drums.

Reliable, professional, with transportation and pro-gear, but unfortunately no place to rehearse.

Everything and anything, but if you want a brief sampling of what I typically listen to, here goes:

Blink 182, A Day to Remember, Periphery, Tycho, Chiodos, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Twenty One Pilots, MGMT, The Naked and Famous, Passion Pit, Matisyahu, RJD2, Purity Ring, Capital Cities, Duke Ellington, Bruce Springsteen, August Burns Red, Angels and Airwaves, Death Cab for Cutie, Cake, Arcade Fire, Justice....

I'm all over the place musically, but for the most part I love music that's fast, dynamically diverse (but also not self-conscious about being loud), rhythmically challenging, and textured, be it with layers of synths and other electronics or waves of guitar distortion and EQ. It doesn't matter to me, I want to play music that makes me move and hopefully can make other people want to move too.

(Just because I could only check three genres of music above doesn't mean those are all that interest me. But I'm sure lots of other people say that too. This is starting to feel like a dating profile...)

Instrument experience:

I have a couple of drum sets that I use for varying purposes, but my baby is a 2009 Mapex Saturn 6-piece studio drumset, with 10" through 16" toms, a 14" snare drum, and a 22" kick drum. I also have a decent arsenal of cymbals, including Zildjian Avedis and Constantinople, Sabian HHX/AAX, Dream, and Wuhan, as well as *some* professional hardware, including a DW 9002 double pedal/9000 hi hat stand, and transportation bags for my drums. I've seriously invested in my gear in the past, and would like to continue to do so from now on.
