Im a drummer for my high school Jazz Band. I could never groove with them though. They just play what’s on the page. The freedom to express myself is what makes me the drummer I am. I need other musicians who love to express themselves and improvise. I see a song as an endless journey. Once I hear the groove, I should be able to come up with a tight beat, which I would then build off of. I should clarify that I have no formal training. Im just a dude who wants to jam. My skills required much improvement but if there’s one thing I bring to the table and creativity. I have ambitions to eventually make a possible career out of music but I’m also down to just have fun jamming with some homies. I would like to help write songs but I don’t have to as long as I have majority creative control over my own drum parts. Of course I’m open to advise and I welcome constructive criticism. I play almost every day. I can’t say I practice often traditionally. I see my playing as practice because I try to incorporate flaws in my technical ability as I’m jamming to my favorite songs. That way I can directly ameliorate my flaws in execution rather than just in practice like most musicians. I am also willing to dedicate more of my time to genuine traditional practice. If I feel motivated by the other members of the group and the music we play. I like to lean into what challenges me. The people I like to play with are people who aren’t scared to mess up. I want to be able to hear the emotion of my bandmates while they play. I want music with soul. Music with such a tight feel that you wanna fu*k it.
