ABOUT

This is me putting myself out there and pushing myself to explore some of my most honest interests and dreams. I’m not sure I can convey how hard I’m willing to work at this, so please read on and get a taste for who I am.

Sports, college, and life sort of got in the way of discovering what artistic avenue would best suit my craving for deeper self expression, and for a long time I thought it was writing. I am just now seriously immersing myself in the music world, with attention to detail, and after a short time at it, I have come to feel that music is the outlet I’ve been desperately searching for. I’ve also realized that the powerful words I’m capable of writing can only achieve their full meaning if I scream them.

I’m a young 24 year old working in corporate America, dissatisfied with the idea that this is all life has to offer. I’ve always been one to unorthodoxly push the envelope when necessary. I’m just starting out, and despite how I’m sure many might think I’m getting ahead of myself, I intend to learn everything I possibly can about music creation and production as I go forward with learning electric guitar and working on my vocals. I am an absolute juvenile on guitar and only picked it up this year in 2018, but I feel I truly have decent enough vocals to offer to a group right now. I sang in a few college Greek life musicals, and I only include that info because it gives me some vocal credibility, not because it describes my character well. Past vocals, I think my greatest value is derived from my writing talent, message, and ability to relay it powerfully. If any are interested, I would love to forward some of the songs, poems, random interlude/intro, ramblings etc. that I have written so that people can feel what I’m going for. That being said, I would love to find a casual band or group to jam/sing with/be around that could offer a mentoring atmosphere, while also entertaining dreams of a potential future band career. This extends to playing cover music: I would have a great time and it would only help improve my vocals more.

I have some videos on my and many voice memo recordings of vocals that I’ve been taking on my phone while in the car for quite some time now. I believe they show potential considering I have invested in no recording equipment and almost all takes are while sitting down. Investing in a musical setup that allows me to grow my vocal talent is my next step because I want to kick this sh*t up to the next level and get seriously sharp vocal takes. Contact me and I can share!

Influences

I would say Chris Cornell is easily my biggest influence. Much of my recording and attempting to emulate vocals are of Soundgarden and Audioslave. It is also very telling of my message and genre tastes. The grunge/pop punk time in the 90s just speaks to my soul. A good current band to reference as personally inspiring is Highly Suspect.

Past that, I will just list off some music influences, including many other genres in no particular order:

Nirvana, Highly Suspect (again because I went in Dallas not long ago and absolutely loved it), RHCP, Rage Against The Machine, Foo Fighters, Temple of the Dog, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepillin, Metallica, Alice In Chains, Green Day, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Frank Sinatra, Greta Van Fleet, Arctic Monkey, The Strokes, The Voidz, Tame Impala, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam. And many more.

I’d quickly like to note that I love angry music and believe I could potentially work well within the metal genre. I had the screamo band (Asking Alexandria, etc.) time period, as well as huge metal phases. I’m honestly drawn to a massive variety of music.

Other loves: Blues, Ska, Punk, Electronic, Country

EQUIPMENT

Electric Guitar- Ibanez RG420

Have a cheap amp for the meantime. I’m moving into an apartment very shortly and intend to setup a small home studio. While definitely jumping the gun in respect to my guitar talent, the main driver in setting up a studio is that I would like to push forward with my vocal work and see how good I can get, while also familiarizing myself with the recording process.
