ABOUT

Did usual touring, hard rock in 60's and 70's. Got married, etc. and gave it up for over 30 years. Ready to get back into it. Rusty, but old skills are quickly returning. Overwhelmed by new technology and frankly miss the simplicity of old. Age and attitude has changed my preferences. I find lots of today's rock music to be repetitious and lacking in melody. Plugging into a Marshall stack at full volume just doesn't cut it anymore for me, Although nothing beats the rush of a live performance I love to sit in my studio, recording and arranging tracks, playing different instruments and slowly piecing together a new song. I would like to split up my time writing and doing live performances of music created in my studio.

Influences

Roy Buchanan, Kenny Wayne Shepard. Liked old Alvin Lee and Johnny Winter. I like lots of unknowns from Europe. Internet radio is great! I take parts of songs from commercials, movie soundtracks or from under any rock when something perks my interest. I like to collaborate with others whether it's just sharing a riff, interesting chord progression, a catchy lyric, phrase or just an idea.
I'm working on lots of projects. I try to release a new single every 2-3 weeks. I also do a live, solo blues act on the side. I try to stay away from the usual standards that everyone else plays. Probably not your usual "Village Playlist". Not dance music unless you're seriously depressed.

EQUIPMENT

Many Gibson Guitars. I've recently sold some. Right now I use mostly an ES-365. I don't care much for the sound or feel of a Fender. I also have too many amps, but I now use mainly the new Vox MV50 with a line out to the PA. I sold all my big PA cabinets that I couldn't lift anyways and purchased a stereo pair of Bose 1 Model 11 Systems. They're light and sound better than my old system. I really, really recommend them, I use Studio One DAW. My studio is pretty well equipped with all the needed instruments and gizmos to make a decent recording. Right now I'm constructing a sound booth for vocals. The tutorials from David Wills are fantastic!
