ABOUT

Vocalist in search of acoustic guitar player or keyboard player for small, local gigs in restaurants, coffee shops, cafes, benefit concerts, outdoor community and township events and private parties. I need either a guitar player or keyboard player to accompany me. I can sing lead and background vocals. I’m great with singing harmony. I am a mezzo soprano with a very versatile voice. I can sing almost any style of music. I began my career singing southern gospel, performing on stage at age two singing solos and in small ensembles at family concerts in churches and local events until I was in my twenties. Throughout my entire life I have performed and competed in various elite choirs and ensembles singing multiple vocal parts (high school, college, community). I have had professional training over the years. For the past nine years I have filled in and sung lead vocals or backup for rock cover band and acoustic gigs, I’ve been hired to sing in a few weddings. Recently, I’ve competed and performed in an a Capella, women’s four part harmony ensemble in the barbershop style. We competed internationally and won a medal in the states.
I am highly skilled singing various harmonies and I have very good pitch from years of experience of practicing music alone in my room as a teenager with my guitar and cassette recorder. I do not read music very well but I am so dedicated that I memorize music extremely fast. That is a good thing because I am never a slave to the sheet music and it allows for more improvisation and creativity.
I would really like to work with someone that can accompany me on songs that are the best fit for my voice and are also appropriate songs for the occasion. I am not interested in jam sessions. Someone that understands the difference between playing music and accompanying a vocalist is ideal.
I’m also interested in singing background vocals for a small acoustic group or trio. I can jump right in with background and harmony.
I don’t have professional recordings and videos but what I have put on here should give you a good idea of some of my capabilities. The one video below is me singing and playing guitar at a local campground in 1996 when I was 17 years old. The other video is me singing at my Mother’s wedding in 2013. I plan on acquiring better material in the near future.
