ABOUT

I am interested in playing with other musicians. I do not have much experience doing this, even though I've been handling guitars since I was eighteen. In the past, friends have called me up on stage to play. I have jammed with others. And once, I surprised a very accomplished artist when she heard me chord building at a piano. The truth is, during all these years I've made my living as an audio engineer/mixer. So I have experienced a lot, in studio and touring, with some of the finest musicians in the world. So, this is not a complete stretch for me to want to do this. Some would say it's about time. And now I'd have to agree with them.

I'm interested in working out original music and covering great songs.

Influences

First it's all about tone.

And I learned about it from, The Beatles. But before a Hard Day's Night, as a kid, my dad played Al Hirt, Herb Alpert, Ramsey Lewis, Roy Clark, and Chet Atkins records. I always dug Ramsey's "The In Crowd". Then came Jimmy Hendrix,The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin and Cream. And there was WABC AM radio in the 60's. Then came Mountain and James Gang. And Allman Brothers, The Who, The Rascals, Santana, Sly and The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Ten Years After, Woodstock, David Bowie; then things started changing. Next was Queen, Mott The Hoople, Lou Reed.

As an adult, I discovered what I missed in punk while I was into Yes and Bruce in the late seventies.

Iggy Pop, The Ramones, The Dead Boys, Clash, actually all of it for it's raw power and rebellion.

AC/DC.

The 90's Seattle bands and LA bands. GNR, Soundgarden, STP and now, Slash and all his work.

And in the absolute present, Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters.

There are many that are not listed. But I close with the following;

There is one idea that made me happy since the first time I read it, which is the exclamation made on the back cover of the album Mountain Climbing, which is, "THIS RECORD WAS MADE TO BE PLAYED LOUD".

Say no more ; )
