Hello, how are you? I am a bassist from West Deptford, NJ originally from Mantua, NJ. My name is Mike Matthews, my email address is michmatt55 . I am 45 years old and have been playing since I was thirteen years old. I have played classic rock in professional bands since my early twenty’s after I got out of the US Navy. I have played in Crossroads, Vengence, The Session, BB Jackson Band, Classic (the rock band) out of Delaware County, PA. I have also played in Christian Band such as the Cross Family Band (Gospel),G.W. Light Train (Christian rock), Worship team member 2 years The Lords Vineyard. I have done sound for Larry Norman and The Joe English Band. I have played progressive rock such as Rush, Kansas, Yes, but I am not stuck on the bass as a lead instrument, my goal in a band it to keep the rhythm section tight and get the bass line as close to the original recording by the artist as possible so the listener can enjoy the music be it listening or dancing, or if an original band compose the most inventive and original bass line possible to complement the rhythm and melody of the composition.

I own nine bass guitars, 1 - Gibson SG Bass, 2 - Fender Precision Deluxe Bass, 3 - Fender Jazz Bass, 4 - Fender Musicmaster Bass, 5 - Epiphone Viola Bass, 6 - Epiphone Extreme Goth Bass, 7 - Fullerton Five String Bass, 8 - Fullerton 30” Scale Active pickup Bass, 9 - Fullerton Fretless Bass.

My amplifiers include an Acoustic 360, a “W” Bin with an 18” Cerwin-Vega speaker with a 200 watt amplifier in the bottom of the cabinet. John Paul Jones from Zeppelin used this model to tour with. I also have a Laney Bass Amplifier with an 18” and 2 - 12” speakers in a cabinet with s separate amplifier, I also use an Ashly SC-40 as a preamp.

I also have a PA System. The mixing board is a Behringer Euro 5000 16 Channel mixing board. The speakers include 2 - 15” speaker cabinets with horns and 2 - 12” speaker cabinets with horns with 2 monitors with 12” speakers with horns, all Behringer. I also have a QSC GS-5. The microphones include 3 SM-58 Beta, a SM-Super 55, 3 Audio Technica recording microphones, 1 Shure PGDMK6 Drum Microphone Kit, 1 Shure .tPGDMK4 Drum Mic Kit and numerous Behringer microphones that I purchased with the PA system. I also have enough microphone stands and cables to outfit a rock band. I also have a brand new 50’ 16 channel audio snake.

The recording equipment I have start with a Presonus 16-4-2 recording/mixing board, a Presonus Firestudio Tube, Presonus FP-10, Presonus Audio box mobile and a Presonus Faderport. I also have a 8 channel Behringer Headphone Amplifier. Recording computers include a Custom built 3 hard drive (2 - 500 GB Hard Drives 7200 RPM), (1 Terrabyte Hard drive 7200 RPM) and 16 GB of RAM. This unit has a 24” Samsung video monitor and 2 JBL 2300 Series Studio Monitors. I also have a Dell 1558 laptop, I7 processor, 500 GB Momentus XT Solid State Hybrid Hard Drive and 8 GB RAM. My backup laptop is a Dell Vostro 1520, T6700 processor, 500 GB Momentus XT Solid State Hybrid Hard Drive with 4 GB RAM.

The recording software starts with Presonus Studio One Version 2 Professional recording Digital Audio Workstation which is installed on all computers. Guitar Rig 4 guitar amplifier software. Melodyne editor from Celemony is pitch/time shift software that will fix any tonal imperfections in vocals and instrumentation. Last but not least is Toontrack Superior Drummer 2 which includes Superior Drummer 2.0, Custom and Vintage SDX, The Metal Foundry SDX, New York Studios SDX. Easy Drummer EZX, The Classic Drummer EZX, Metal Head EZX, Electronic EZX, Jazz EZX, Funkmasters EZX, Twisted Kit EZX, Claustrophobic EZX, Drumkit from Hell EZX, Latin Percussion EZX,

Vintage Rock EZX. I also have Eazy Player Pro which is a MIDI organizer, multi track arranger and format conversion tool all rolled into one nifty piece of software.
Toontrack solo is a stand alone application designed to host Toontrack samplers such as dfh Superior and Ezdrummer. All of the software applications are the actual recordings of top of the line drum kits recorded with the best audio recording gear and with the most appropriate microphones depending on the type of drum sounds trying to be achieved.
All of the samples can be used with electronic drums or acoustic drums with triggers installed on them. The advantage over microphone recorded drums is the kits are instantaneously changed from one kit to another at the flick of a switch without having to deal with bleeding from other instrument or even other drums, leaving the audio engineer with an unlimited amount of options with very little effort in the recording of the drum tracks for any music. Well I guess that is enough info for now so email and let me know what is going on so we can set up and audition. You may also view me on at Michael Anthony Matthews if looks are a consideration as there are pictures of my playing last year. Enclosed as an attachment is a mp3 of a Garbage song that I entered in a beatport contest. The bass playing is me as also the drums were programmed by me. Thank you, mike matt
