OK, here's the story.

First, the reason that this 'About' section is so protracted (i.e., long) because BandMix selection options don't allow much description or fine tuning.

Back in the '60s played in the Chessmen blues band around town and down on Gaslight Square in StL. Jack (drummer) and I have played several hundred gigs in our career. Since then, working a day job to pay the inevitable bills. Now the irresistible urge to play music has overtaken us again and so here goes. Looking to assemble an all-pro cover band featuring the following influences: Blues, Soul, Pop, R&B, and perhaps some Latin. I have a 100+ selection playlist for interested party inquiries.

Currently have a male vocal/rhythm guitar (me) and the drummer that survive from the original group. Now wanting to add the other key pieces: female vocal, lead, bass, keys (synth, organ, piano; i.e., one musician playing all three), horns (two tenor saxes, trumpet, trombone) and harmonica. All musicians should be able to sing backup (ideally) but not necessarily a hard requirement. Additionally, want 3 female backup singers.

As the more astute among you may have gathered, not all sidemen will play every gig. This will be tailored to the engagement/venue. Core group is probably vocals, lead, bass, drums and either keys or 2 saxes.

I personally think that bands with tight vocal harmonies and/or big horns are seriously next level. For vocals, listen to the Eagles 'Take It Easy' or the Doobies 'Listen To The Music' on headphones to get a sense of what I'm talking about. For horns listen to Chicago, Ray Charles or Joe Cocker do just about anything.

Once I have the core group (see above for definition) assembled (after auditions) practice will begin in earnest until a fair amount of the playlist is down cold. Then, as necessary. Once a week I expect. Looking for pro (this site calls them expert) musicians that have 100+ gigs under their belt and are very committed that will be able to produce a get-down tight sound. Also, no drugs, no drama. We're here to play music, not audition for hollywood soap operas.

The way I see this developing is playing clubs/bars until we get our brand established, then weddings, corporate events, social events, parties, casinos, wine gardens, then maybe even Vegas! The end game in all of this is to make really, really good music and money - lot's of it. And let's face it, if we are good enough, this can be your day job.

Now, some closing notes:
Fun: everybody likes fun, we will have fun but also know when it's time to be professional.
Influences: mine are listed but that doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. As each member is added they will bring their influences with them. I only have a general idea of what the finished product will resemble.
