Looking for a piano/keyboard/backing vocalist for Mighty Joe Castro and The Gravamen.
We've been described as sounding like Buddy Holly, if he had access to a stack of effects pedals and some Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds records. We're trying to get to the intersection of Creation and Sun Records. Searching for other misfits to help break the mold. We practice in Philadelphia and gig/record regularly.
“Philly-based singer-songwriter Mighty Joe Castro would fit right in at the Twin Peaks roadhouse. His retro-rock stylings channel the uneasy underbelly of 1950s American life; think equal parts film noir and Chris Isaak’s “Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing,” – John Vettese, WXPN
Influences range from Tom Waits, The Cramps, The Pogues, Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Portishead, David Lynch, Howlin' Wolf, Patsy Cline, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Ritchie Valens, Johnny Burnette, The Ramones and 50s style rock and roll.
