ABOUT

if you ever do any songwriting, or are thinking about trying songwriting, you are invited to the next meeting of the Atlantic County Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), of which I'm a co-coordinator. We meet the second Tuesday of every month from 7-9:00 (we sometimes run late) at the Otto Bruyns Public Library, 241 W Mill Rd in Northfield. Feel free to come out some time.

I sing, play guitar (mostly rhythm, but some lead) and piano/keyboards and mess around on the ukulele from time to time, but I'm primarily a songwriter. I started writing songs when I was 14 with a buddy of mine. I'm looking for co-writers, especially better vocalists (and anyone else that complements my strengths) for pitching to TV/film and bands to write for/with. Check out my page, and if you're interested in co-writing, drop me a line. I currently have some flexibility about when and how often I can play out and co-write.

Influences

My mom was a church organist, so I grew up listening to her playing hymns and the easy listening she favored. I came of age in the early 70's, so I also listened to a lot of 60's classic rock, and 70's folk rock. I went to my first Philly folk fest in 1981 or 82, skipped a year, then went for the next 15 years straight, soaking up a wide variety of folk music for three days every year. I also sang in a Barbershop chorus and a couple of quartets during the same period. I started listening to country in the late 90's for the lyrics. Favorite artists include the Beatles, Stones, Moody Blues, CSN (and sometimes Y), Elton John, Simon and Garfunkle, Mike Cross, Christine Lavin, John Gorka, Toby Keith, the Zac Brown Band, and too many others to mention, but really anything I listen to is an influence one way or another.
