"Mike Dubose is a fierce performer and a fearless man"- James McMurtry
"Mike Dubose has the heart of a writer--his politically active and hearftelt expression sometimes invokes a Neil Young and Crazy Horse mood."- Loris Lowe, KLBJ-KGSR, Austin TX
"Mike Dubose and the Dissidents set up quite a sonic squall."- Gurf Morlix
The critics can’t get enough of Mike Dubose and The Dissidents. James McMurty calls Dubose a “fierce performer and fearless man.” Loris Lowe has compared the group’s work to Neil Young and Crazy Horse and with good reason.
Mike Dubose and the Dissidents were formed in Austin, Texas in 2006. Currently, The Dissidents are comprised of songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Dubose and drummer Jimmy James Klein. Guitarist Larry Graves and bassist/vocalist Diana Bruschke left recently due to personal reasons.

Mike Dubose was born in Liberty, Texas. He moved to Austin at age 6 and started playing guitar at age 13. His influences during his teens ranged from Guns N Roses, The Sex Pistols, The Beatles, Metallica and Nirvana to Johnny Cash and Townes Van Zandt. He formed Missing Ingredient in 1996. The band opened up for such acts as Son Volt, Elliott Smith, Wilco and Yo La Tengo. Missing Ingredient released the CD "Consolation Prize" in 1999. It garnered positive reviews, decent radio play and sales.

Missing Ingredient dissolved in 2000 and Mike went on to do solo performances and recording. He’s shared the stage with Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, James McMurtry and Tish Hinojosa.

Jimmy James Klein was born in Nashua, New Hampshire and moved to Texas in 2002 from Hamburg, Germany. He has played professionally in numerous bands and cultural percussion and dance troupes. Jimmy started playing the kit at age 10 and shifted his focus to hand percussion and dance in 1996, when he studied and performed primarily in Boston, MA and Guinea, West Africa. Upon moving to Austin, Jimmy got back behind the kit and continues to enjoy performing whether dancing, hand drumming, or backing up a band on his drum set. Recently he has performed live with Molly Venter and Tribal Moon.

Mike Dubose and the Dissidents first CD “Fort Benning Blues” will be released on Rogue Sate Records in 2009 with a national tour to follow.
