ABOUT

Guys and gals, We really need a few more dedicated musicians to play with the band so I can get the ball rolling in booking some gigs. If you think you may be interested, please give me a shout out. (Contact information is below even if you aren't a premium Bandmix member.); Thanks ..... Swampy (Jim Knoch)

Hindsight was 20/20, so 2021 must be a better year! Join us as we look forward .... "To Infinity And Beyond!" Musicians all know that only you are responsible for the extreme personal satisfaction you will acquire while performing music! Successful Musicians Believe In Themselves and have fun!

Introduction:

Fellow Musicians, I am Jim Knoch, manager and lead vocalist, They also call me "Swampy", the Old Louisiana Swamp-boy. We have mostly escaped the pandemic (the piano player's wife just tested positive, so we are isolating for a couple of weeks even though I am fully vaccinated!). We will again be rehearsing weekly after the quarantine is over, barring illness or severe weather. If you would like to jam with us no strings attached, consider joining us at a rehearsal, just bring along your instrument and amp if needed, or a microphone & cable. Come on, don't be shy! You know you want to have some fun and to make some music, don't you? We currently have 1,180+ songs near gig readiness in the Blues, Bluegrass, Classic Rock, Classic Pop, Classic & Contemporary Country, Folk, Funk, Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Southern Rock, Soul, Swamp Pop, and Texas Swing genres. Recently I have been adding a number of songs in anticipation of working with female vocalists. Sorry, but we won't do drugs nor excessive booze. We don't play any screaming, head banging Heavy Metal. We also don't have any Gothic darkness and doom playing Death Metal. Nor will you find anyone here with ruptured eardrums from overly loud, piercing Punk & Grunge Hard Rock. We also won't play any pistol waving, pants down to the knees, Rap. You will find camaraderie with like minded fellow musicians that enjoy playing various genre of music which we all remember from our youth. Since we are not a Premium Bandmix member listing, we can not contact YOU unless you have some contact information coded into your listing or you contact us first through BandMix or directly (see below for direct email decoding info). I welcome any interested musician to contact me to come to a jam session / rehearsal, so if you're interested in playing a little music, contact Jim (Swampy) and I'll set up a convenient rehearsal date for you to join with us. Our normal rehearsal time is every Friday evening 6:30 until 9:00P.M. at James (Jimmy) Singletary's home in Hickory, La. His piano is a bit too heavy for us old farts to easily move about, so we just rehearse there to save our backs, even though his home is a bit cramped for space. We are also open to any interested lady musicians that don't have issues singing and/or playing alongside grandpa. We are offering a wealth of musical knowledge and experience, all free for the asking! We may as well share the knowledge and joy of music before age takes it all away from us. Hoping to see you at a jam session.
Thanks ... Swampy --- Land Line = (985)-863-3316 or Text to cell = (985)-807-6729

Goals:

Millennium Mix is currently looking for a few additional permanent musicians and a larger location to regularly rehearse. I envision ultimately building the band with 4 ~ 7 pieces. We are presently in search of a lead guitar player and a bass guitar player. Another vocalist would also be a good add as would a background vocalist. Horns and keys are also in need to complete the ensemble.

The primary focus of the band would be to HAVE FUN gigging mostly on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Southeast Louisiana, also in Coastal and Southern Mississippi as venues become available. I don't envision booking any New Orleans venues considering the rampant gun violence I've already witnessed at a gig a few years ago! We may be getting old, but we prefer not to become just another statistic without taking a thug induced shortcut to that last gig in the sky! Likewise, we are not fond of being victims of armed robbery and carjacking while loading or unloading equipment, either!

We will perform mostly cover songs and some original tunes, primarily for parties and special benefits, avoiding the lounge scene as much as possible ... I'm tired of dealing with the smoke, drunks, dopers, & brawls. Currently, we have songs of all above mentioned genre in the master song list that are reasonably gig ready and we're not opposed to learning more songs for wedding requests or another vocalist's desire to perform. After all if it doesn't feel like work, it must be fun, right??? Laissez les bon temps rouler!
