I have been playing professionally since 1969, in Harris, Brazos, Brazoria, Grimes, Bastrop, Waller, Washington Madison, Montgomery counties. I am a seasoned professional and enjoy a good reputation. I have been nominated by the Academy of Western Artists several times for Western Female Singer of the Year, was nominated also for Rising Star and Entertainer of the Year with the same National organization. I have been Runner-Up to Best Local Band of Grimes County...(a 7-piece Western Swing band won). I have opened for David Ball, Joe Ely and I was scheduled to open for Micheal Martin Murphy, but he became ill and cancelled his concert (what a bummer!). I currently perform with three different duos, having been with all these guys for over 10 years each. We perform at restaurants, festivals, private parties, corporate events, rodeos, county fairs, weddings and an occasional ice house... This IS Texas!
My vocal range is Contralto (dame range as a male tenor), I sing lead, 1st and 3rd part harmonies, am a competent rythm guitar player, play both straight and cross (blues) harmonica and light percussion when appropriate. I will only play with live musicians; no canned music. I know and teach the Nashville Number System.
I am looking to put a show together with a like-minded duo partner and/or possibly a trio (thus, more money, less equipment and hopefully less egos to deal with than a full band, lol). The genres I perform in are Classic Country, Blues, Jazz Standards, Western, "Back Porch", Western Swing, Spanish Classics, Bluegrass, Gospel and I love Southern Rock.... As you can see, a wide variety of music.
I have recently moved back to the Friendswood/Pearland/Alvin area after close to 15 years of caring for my parents where I was also foreman of my father's horse ranch, all the while still performing frequently... Thus my search for local musicians to work with and network with.
Whew! Haven't talked about myself so much since..... Yesterday! (Just kidding, day BEFORE yesterday, lol). A good sense of humor is a must, but

EQUIPMENT
I play a really sweet Takemine acoustic/electric EN20 jumbo body guitar, prefer Special 20 Harmonicas, and run through a Fender Acoustisonic Vocal/Instrument amp, or two...perfect for restaurant gigs and I can run out of the back into a PA system when required (which I have).
