ABOUT

Mighty Craic just lost their frontman and are looking for a new one. The band is two lead guitars (both play rhythm too), amazing bass player, and drums. Guitars have different lead styles to keep it fresh. Very solid rhythm section. We are a relatively new band and are all very talented Austin natives who seek the same.

Mighty Craic was formed in 2014 in Austin, TX. The term "Craic" comes from an old Irish term meaning "Fun or Good Time," as in having a mighty good time. Guitar, backing vocals , and mandolin player Mitch Stuart, Jackson Daly on guitar, Levi McClaferty on bass and backing vocals, and Jim McCarthy on drums and backing vocals, come together to create rock & roll, funk, metal, and psychedelic tones all mixed into one big soulful sound.

Influences

Influences from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Primus, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Dave Grohl drive the band to offer powerful original songs with high-energy dueling guitar solos, dramatic lyrics, ensnaring bass lines, and funky backbeats enrich the band's overall sound. Each artist has their own unique approach to writing, producing, learning, and exceptional musicianship to back it up.

Members Of Band

Mitch Stuart formed Mighty Craic by recruiting extremely talented and creative band members who all share a common vision for the bands new explosive sound. Mitch has been a gigging musician for many years with multiple projects including The Hooch and most recently Great Soul out of San Antonio. Mitch is an exceptionally skilled guitarist/mandolin player and has worked on many regional artists’ records, television commercial spots, and two time battle of the band winners and is a member of GRAMMY University music organization.

Jackson Daly was originally born in Scotland but moved to Dripping Springs where he jammed with Mitch, Levi, and Jim. Previous bands include: Hair of the Dog, We Paint the Town, and Dank. Jackson’s style began with the blues and jazz which progressed toward metal and more technical riffs. His influences vary from Black Sabbath and Megadeth, to Mars Volta and Miles Davis. Jackson is ecstatic about playing with his long time friends again and what this group is capable of producing.

Jim McCarthy’s passion is drumming. He spent the first few years performing as solely a drummer for many bands, most notably Sixes and Eights. When the dynamics of Sixes and Eights changed he was forced into the role of singing lead from behind the drum kit. Jim knows this new project will give him the opportunity to return to his roots and focus on what drives his intense love of music, the drum set. Jim has gigged hundreds of shows, two album releases, and many live albums. The previous experience he has with the rest of the group members will ensure instant solidarity and live fluidity.

Levi McClaferty’s expertise level of playing comes from multiple bands including: Sixes & Eights, Dripping Springs legend tells of this band and their genre splitting development; Dank, Metal for your soul; Westgate Revival, a southern-soul funk project; Everyday Blues Band, the band that plays your everyday blues. He started teaching himself to play at the age of 13 using the tablatures section of ‘Guitar World’ magazine to learn War Pigs by Black Sabbath. With influences mostly focusing on renowned bassist such as Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, and John Paul Jones, Levi also takes in styles from funk, bluegrass, and rock genres to form his own style. Together with Mitch, Levi started this project with the sound of technical riffs and intelligent design.
