ABOUT
Mizter Koffy is heavly influnced by the 60's Soul Jazz, Spy Jazz, Heavy Funk, 70's Dub & Break Beats.
In 1993, he was awarded a certificate of Accomplishment for “Most Improved Drum Student” at Music Technical Institute in Minneapolis. A few months after school he became the father of Jazzlyn. So he went on to pursue a career in music business, while remaining an active artist.
In 1998, he received a “Certificate of Achievement” in the world category from the 8th Billboard Song Contest. In 1999, he received 2 “Honorable Mentions” in the world category from the 9th Billboard Song Contest. In 1999, he had his first release with Chi-Lin Records in Taiwan.
By the early 2000’s he began working closely with many labels as a co-A&R and marketing contributor. In 2001, he released an album under the name Eastern Dub Tactik through Waveform Records. The album reached the number 8 spot on the BBC Radio 1 – Bobby Friction & Nihal Top 10. In 2002, he produced 2 tracks featured in the movie Halloween: Resurrection. In 2003, he produced a track for the compilation Babylon Is Ours: The United States in Dub, for Select Cuts. In 2003, he was co-A&R for Tantra Lounge for Water Music Records.
By this time, he had been working with a major retail chain for many years as a music buyer. Through networking with many labels, he saw the many project opportunities available. So, to improve the quality of his projects, he began to study Audio Engineering. In 2004, he earned the “Associate of Science Degree in Recording Arts” from Full Sail Real World Education. There he placed first in the “Session Recording – Project Mix Competition.”
In 2005, he produced the first track under the name “Mizter Koffy” for the compilation Tantra Lounge 3 for Water Music Records. In 2005, he produced the track “Organ Vibe” for the compilation Dirty Martini for Water Music Records. Also in 2005, he produced the track “Rebel Style” for the compilation Roots of Dub Funk 5 for Tanty Records.
After 2 years in the making, Big Band Remixed & Reinvented was released in 2006. All tracks were exclusively remixed and recorded for the project. In 2008, he produced the lead track for the compilation Jazz Lounge 4 for Water Music Records. He is currently an Import Music Buyer for the largest CD Wholesaler in the US.
