ABOUT

We are a group of five childhood friends who have been playing together in some shape or form for about the last ten years. Several of us have been in other small local bands.

We are looking for musicians in the area who would like to get in on our weekend jam sessions. Hopefully, without sounding too much like a pompous musician, I can say that we are still trying to find a unique sound :) We play a lot of different styles, funky improvisational jams, a little jazz, hip-hop, and some very ambient tunes. Mostly original or our own take on covers. We aren't really looking for anything specific, but we could definitely use a good vocalist(singer), horn players, and maybe strings. Regardless of your instrument, most important is an ability to contribute to a creative process. We need someone who likes writing music as much as they do playing it.

We have a decent equipment setup, including recording equipment that we have been using lately. So if you are in the area and have a weekend free, please get in touch. There are two songs uploaded. One is a cover of Brubeck's Take Five. We changed the time signature to 4/4 and kept it real simple. We wanted to make and attempt at structuring a song better. Personally, I think the vocals could be recorded much better but we have only been using the equipment for a few weeks. The second song is a improvosational piece some of us did the other night just messing around. It is a little rough around the edges but I think it was mixed well and it might be a good starting point. We have other stuff but we do not have a place to put it on the web. So if you want you want to come by an jam some weekend get in touch and davidt0x. Thanks

Influences

Everyone is into different stuff. I personally(keyboard player) am into jazz and film score composers. Specifically, Miles Davis, Bill Evans, Jimmy Smith, Joey Defrancesco, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer, Phillip Glass. I listen to other stuff but those are my primary influences.

I can't speak that much for the other guys but I can say that their interests are very ecclectic. The drummer tends to more funky or hip hop beats. One guitar player seems to like more heavy rock and metal. The other guitarist is listening to something new every time I see him so he has more influences than I can probably do justice. We also have a lyricist that obviouslly likes hip hop and motown.

EQUIPMENT

Guitars; Gibson Les Paul Standard, Ibanez, a Tokai Bass(actually sounds pretty good), a cheap classical accoustic.

Keyboard: Korg Triton LE 88-KEy

Drums: 5-Piece Accoustic Set, 5 or so cymbals and some cowbells and crap.

Amps: Marshall Stack, Hartke KM200, Behringer Blue Devil GX112, a couple other miscellaneous.

Recording: We just got a pretty good amateur recording setup centered around a 10 channel Presonus Firepod. This coupled with a bunch of decent mics and a great PC let us do some decent home recording.
