ABOUT

You can find us on or under "Mod Hippie." We are an old-guy, 4 piece melodic, garagey, psychedelic, blues-riffy, space-out rock band. This bans plays fast, slow, low, quiet, intense, and laid back. We want someone who can sing harmonies! It would be great to have a keyboard player or someone who plays lots of instruments as long as he/she can also sing harmonies. Everyone in this band is in their 30's and 40's, has a day job, and has no designs on money or fame whatsoever. We are together to write, record and play music. There are fantastic musicians with no egos here and if you write songs, we will find ways to play them as well. We practice Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, usually in the late afternoon from 4-7. This is a new band as of August 2012, so we haven't played out as a unit, but two of us have played hundreds of gigs with other bands.

Influences

My original vision for this group was to have a Pixies, David Bowie and the Spiders rock vibe. It starts with a basic acoustic rock/pop song which is then layered with a heavy, melodic lead guitar and anchored with a graceful rhythm section that can dance around the the vocal melody. I want lots of harmony in this band as well. It ended up being a wide variety of types of songs. Everyone brings tons of influences, we can play it Rockin',soft and spooky, bluesy, surfy, jazzy, spacey, or with a reggae twist.. All the Rock and Roll hall of Fame acts are influences, as well as most of the one-hit wonders. No one here is too much into modern country or Broadway music. Otherwise, anything goes

Right now, we are a four piece. One singer who plays passable electric guitar. I will gladly become a singer only or part-time guitar player if a better rhythm player shows up who can sing harmonies. One excellent lead guitar player who will happily split rhythm and lead duties if another excellent lead guitar player who can sing harmonies shows up. One no-nonsense, rock-steady imaginative drummer who works to give each part of each song its own beat and special flavor. He can play just about any style there is. One incredibly accomplished bass player who is as good a musician and as nice a guy as you could ever hope to jam with.
