I've been playing guitar on and off for 15 years. Lately, I've been discovering and interested in more of the rare 60s and 70s psych like Gandalf and Cold Sun. The stuff I always keep going back to includes Amon Duul II (Yeti), Stranglers, Magazine, King Crimson (1st album), Sonic Youth, Glenn Branca (Ascension), This Heat, Aloha (Some Echoes), Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Radiohead (Kid A, In Rainbows), Interpol (Antics), Battles, Tortoise, and others. Besides mainly guitar-driven music, I've always loved dark synth pop like Depeche Mode and OMD...and then there's other stuff like the Knife, Boards of Canada, Clark, Burial, and more of the offshoot dubstep.
At this point, I just want to find like-minded musicians in the area. The above-listed influences are not criteria by any means; I just want to give a general idea of where I'm coming from so that others can determine if there's an overall match. I have material that I've wanted to record on my own for some time, but I'm realizing now that I probably can't do it on my own because I'm just not that tech-savvy. So there's that. But I'm also interested in starting fresh, collaborating with other musicians, coming up with new material, forming a group, playing locally, etc.
