This is a very brief, but true account of a time out my past. Why? It takes me back...

After I got back from Vietnam, she and I met. Wasn't long before we fell in lust, packed up all our belongings, and drove all the way to LA in the middle of the night.

"Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere.
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere." - Perry, Schon, Cain

We rented a small rooftop apartment on Venice Blvd near the beach. We were both broke, so we each got jobs to make ends meet. I had to pawn my 12 string guitar so we could afford to eat. Yeah, we had a short run together, and it was very cool. But you know how good times can sometimes come to an end sooner than ya think?. Ours did too.

"Don't ya love her madly?
Want to be her daddy?
Don't ya love her face?
Don't ya love her as she's walkin' out the door?
Like she did one thousand times before.." - Kreiger

I remember the time we argued and I told you to get out of the car. I regretted that and spent the rest of the night combing the beach, sifting through the crowds of homeless people, calling out your name.

"She used her body just like a bandage
She use my body just like a wound
I'll probably never know where she disappeared
But I can see rising up out of the back seat now
Just like an angel rising out of a tomb
But it was long ago, and it was far away
Oh God, it seems so very far
And if life is just a highway, then the soul is just a car
And objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are." - Steinman
