ABOUT

I'm a session bassist in the LA/SFV area looking for more projects and gigs. I went to Musicians Institute in 2008 and graduated with honors, and have been able to make my living through a combination of teaching, gigging, and doing sessions. I've done quite a few gigs that have ranged from playing in bars to doing sessions with high profile musicians.

I have quite a bit of experience playing rhythm guitar (specifically baritone guitar), as well as having some piano knowledge. I can sing backup, but I would never consider myself a frontman-type vocalist. Also, I've composed both horn and string parts for multiple projects. I have experience working in Sibelius as well as in Pro Tools, Logic, and Digital Performer. My father is a studio owner and engineer, so I was lucky enough to grow up in that environment and pick up on a lot of tips and tricks. Primarily I am a bass player, but I have quite a few other talents to bring to the table.

Currently I'm looking to pick up any and all paid gigs I can get my hands on, or to start a group of my own. If you're looking for a pro-level bass player for your project, or you want to start a jazz/fusion type group, I'm definitely your guy.

Influences

I love everything, I really do. Every genre has something that I love. From jazz and fusion to R&B and soul to death metal and prog to country and bluegrass to IDM and ambient electronica and everything in between. I just love playing music.

I don't want to go through and list all the artists I like, but I will name a few bass players I consider to be my main source of inspiration. My top 5 are:

Jaco Pastorius
Pino Palladino
Sean Malone
Gary Willis
Ron Carter

But of course I draw inspiration from all types of musicians (especially sax players and pianists). I spend as much free time as I can muster either practicing, transcribing, or writing songs for other people or just for myself.
