ABOUT

Natural Soul was a coming together of musical minds. It began as the recognition of pure talent and beauty that is Diana Noelle’s natural, musical self. From this recognition, Natural Soul blossomed into a bouquet of soulful music with the addition of The Pozz and his guitar and keyboard talents. The majesty and awe of Natural Soul was soon realized by those who have experienced the beauty, the energy, the life, the soul of this group and its music.

Natural Soul sought out those who love soul, blues, and rock with the organic touch. The pure, raw sound has affected many who have heard the natural love of our music along with the special power that our music has. It is genuine, authentic, simple, elegant, and pure soul. It is beyond just playing a song, more than a performance, and not overdone. It is what music naturally is in its purist and most natural form. It is Natural Soul.

Influences

Diana Noelle has developed her own unique style of vocal performance, the result of a lifetime of musical influences from many sources. Diana’s musical tastes and interests include various genres of music such as soul, rock, reggae, and classic rhythm and blues. Not only were these personal to Diana, but these same influences were found among the members of her family who also developed musical careers. Beyond the influence of her musical family, Diana has embraced a profound influence from many other female artists in her life. These artists include Nina Simone, Gladys Knight, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, and Lauryn Hill to name a few. Through her performance, the power and elegance of these well-known artists are channeled through Diana’s incredible voice evoking a deep and heart-filled style of singing seldom heard.
The Pozz (Michael J. Pozzebon) is a seasoned veteran having performed live for over 20 years. Starting at age 6 with the piano, Pozz has incorporated many other instruments since including the trumpet, trombone, electric bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, and, his ultimate favorite, the Hammond Organ. Despite his age, Pozz has mastered many musical styles and genres that include soul, jazz, latin jazz, reggae, funk, country, folk, bluegrass, rock, and blues. Pozz has also studies non-Western musical forms from Australia, Indonesia, India, South America, Hawaii, and various West African forms like JuJu and Highlife. Although many influences are present, The Pozz considers himself a product of the San Francisco Bay Area tradition of open, ever-formless music for music’s sake. The main result is the mastery of musical improvisation, a technique that has been honed for the length of his musical career as a featured soloist. Taken together, The Pozz is music in human form.
Jerry Young as a bass guitarist and vocalist has been a familiar face in the Lehigh Valley for nearly five decades with his on-stage “antics,” solid bass style, and recognizable voice. Living in Allentown since he was an infant, Jerry’s musical seeds were planted in elementary school when he first played clarinet in the school orchestra and sang for his church choir. In the early 60’s when the British Invasion hit the USA, Jerry, like many other musicians, was caught up in the whirlwind of Beatlemania. When a close junior high friend took up playing guitar, Jerry naturally decided he would play, too, until that friend suggested he play bass guitar so they could start a band. That day began Jerry’s bass guitar career at the ripe age of 13 years old. His band went on to play concerts and dances at both his junior and senior high schools, culminating with his band Teapot Dome Conspiracy having won first prize in the valley’s Battle of Bands in 1969. In the years to come, Jerry would be seen in a number of bands including Barnaby Plum, The Breaks, Sunrise, Take Five, Jynx, and recently Shake Rattle & Soul and The Groove Crew. Jerry currently resides in Allentown with his lovely fiancée, Sorn, who was born and raised in Thailand.
